Baptism is a celebration of your public commitment to accept and follow Jesus Christ giving Him control of your life. It is a symbol of your old self (going under the water) and the new you being raised to life (coming up out of the water) by the power of the Holy Spirit. Life change is what it’s all about – God changing you from the inside out!
If you are ready to say YES to Jesus and take the next step of baptism, let us know. We’re ready to go as soon as you are!
For we are buried with Christ in baptism and raised to walk in NEW LIFE with Him.
Romans 6:4
There’s no set time or specific age to do this. Although here at The Village, we wait until kids are old enough to believe and understand the true meaning of this step before we baptize them. Our church holds Parent Dedications for little ones, which allow parents and family to make a public faith commitment to raise their kids in a Christian home.
Why We Believe In Baptism By Immersion
- Jesus was baptized that way.
- Every baptism in the Bible was by immersion.
- Immersion best symbolizes a death and a resurrection.
“I’ve never had much of a relationship with God. It wasn’t that I didn’t believe in him, it was more that I didn’t know what I needed to do or how to speak with Him. My wife knows that I have never been one to suggest going to church, but one Sunday a few months ago, I woke up and something told me I needed to go. The sermon spoke to me and I could relate with everything that was going on in my life. I knew I was meant to be here, and realized how long God had waited for me for this exact moment."
"Over the past year, I have developed a renewed thirst to experience a closer relationship with God. I feel extremely grateful for the blessings that I have been given in this life, and therefore feel compelled to seek baptism as an outward sign of my commitment to God.”
After his baptism, as Jesus came up out of the water, the heavens were opened, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and settling on him.
